Oil Test #1

You are here: Home / Art / Oil Test #1

Description

Oregon red alder with red pigment infused linseed oil and raw red pigment

Yes, the inside and the outside look different. This was the first time I tried infusing oil with the pigment and using it as a finish. The bottom of the bowl has just the pigment in oil, which turned the pale maple wood a deep russet color and gave it a red candy. The inside was finished in the same way, then I buffed the top layers off and applied red pigment alone to a few white rotted areas. Then I finished the whole thing with an acrylic finish.

The results are really striking.
